DESCRIPTION:Intro to Paddling\nThe Mississippi River Water Trail Association is hosting our 3rd Annual Intro to Paddling Clinic in the calm backwaters of Ellis Bay within the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary on Saturday\, June 6\, 2026 from 8am-12pm.\nTHIS EVENT WILL OCCUR RAIN OR SHINE\, BUT WE WILL NOT PADDLE IN DANGEROUS CONDITIONS SUCH AS HIGH WINDS\, LIGHTENING\, OR TORNADO WARNINGS. AN EMAIL WILL BE SENT BY 7AM THE DAY OF THE EVENT IN THE EVENT OF CANCELATION. \nLearn basic strokes\, maneuvers\, rescue techniques and of course\, how to safely enter and exit a kayak. \nThis clinic is suitable for all levels including people completely new to padding as well as experienced kayakers who want to practice deep water rescues. We have use of a universally accessible kayak ramp should your knees or hips cause concern for getting into a vessel. \n*Participants must be 12 or older to participate in the skills clinic\, and should be comfortable paddling their own boat. \nWe have a limited number of kayaks to borrow.

DESCRIPTION:If want to refine your paddling skills\, meet new people\, and learn how to make it look easy\, this is the event for you! We teach how to paddle more effectively\, how to communicate on the water\, how to rescue yourself and others\, and how to have fun doing it. Our qualified instructors are all volunteers. That means that this event is the best value ever. It’s FREE to all who are members of both St. Louis Canoe and Kayak Club and ACA and costs just $11.50 for those who are not ACA members. (Usually\, instructors charge about $125 for a class.) Classes will be designed according to your needs. We have options that cover canoe\, kayak\, and sit-on-top\, and a kids’ class.

SUMMARY:Kayak Discovery Day
DESCRIPTION:Experience kayaking first hand at the FREE Kayak event August 15\, 2026\, starting at 8:30 am! Boats and gear will be supplied; bring your own boat if you have one. Instruction will be given on paddle movement and motion\, boat basics and safety. Participants will experience kayaking during a 50 minute paddle on the water. \nThis event is open to people of all ages; children under 8 years old must supply their own life preserver if participating. Participants are encouraged to wear sunscreen and water friendly clothing and shoes. \nEach session will last 50 minutes on the water\, with a maximum of 24 kayaks per session.\nAll water enthusiasts\, regardless of kayaking experience\, are welcome. People with their own boats are more than welcome also. PFD’s are required. If bringing your own kayak\, don’t forget your paddle. \nVolunteers will be assisting\, including sharing paddling and safety skills. \nKayaks\, paddles and life jackets will be provided by KC Kayak and Canoe. DESCRIPTION:Join Missouri Stream Teams for our 11th annual Paddle MO adventure on the Missouri River. This year’s paddle will explore up to 114 miles of the Missouri River\, beginning in Boonville on September 19th and ending at New Haven on Sept. 23rd. \nPaddle trip options include 2-day (weekend only)\, 3-Day (Monday-Wednesday)\, and 5-Day (Saturday through Wednesday). Trip registration fees include all meals with the exception of Friday evening (optional arrival day on Sept. 18th)\, tent camping\, and shuttles for the entire trip. Just bring your boat and camping gear and we will take care of the rest! \nOur lead on-water educators are Bill and Jody Miles from the Missouri non-profit\, Earth’s Classroom. Stream Teams United staff and Missouri Stream Team volunteers are your support crew – on and off the water. \nNeed a boat? Let us know and we can help you find one. \nPaddle MO is an annual fundraiser for the non-profit Stream Teams United\, the statewide coalition of Missouri Stream Team Associations. Join the fun of our 11th year of Paddle MO!
